10 hands and a story of the world
2022
Pine wood, UV print on dibond

Taking reference from the improvisational hand gestures performed within Chinese Opera, the work looks at the hand gestures of today—hand signs made by protesters, gestures of politicians, hands of caregivers, of labourers, how we wash our hands, signals, and sign language—arranging and collaging them to tell a story about the modern world.

Presented at DECK, Singapore, as part of the exhibition Time Present, Time Past, an exhibition reflecting on Chinese street opera culture in Singapore.
